Stamattina io e Friday siamo andati a visitare le coltivazioni di caffé a Nteko, zona quasi prossima al confine con il Congo. Talmente prossima che spesso i villaggi in Uganda diventano riparo per i rifugiati dal Congo pertanto le Nazioni Unite devono costantemente intervenire per non permettere che fuggano senza controllo. Come è successo stamattina che mentre eravamo in visita un super Suv dell’UN ha raggiunto il villaggio di Nteko e gli abitanti lo toccavano come se fosse oro!
…tornando alle piantagioni, la particolarità della zona di Nteko è per la produzione di caffè Robusta che si differenzia dall’Arabica per avere le foglie più rugose e i chicchi più grandi.
È entusiasmante girare per le piantagioni di caffè e cominciare a riconoscere la qualità o condividere il processo di raccolta e lavorazione del caffè con i coltivatori stessi!

This morning I visited coffee crops in Nteko with Friday, near the Congo border. The Uganda villages are so close that they often shelter refugees from Congo, so the United Nations must constantly intervene not to keep the situation under control. This morning, during our visit, a huge UN jeep arrived in the village of Nteko and the inhabitants were so enthusiastic, touching it as if it was made of gold!
…returning to the plantations, the peculiarity of the Nteko area is the Robusta coffee production, that differs from Arabica coffee with its rugged leaves and bigger grains.
It is exciting to explore the coffee plantations and learn to recognize different qualities and share the process of coffee harvesting and processing with the farmers themselves!
